In 2010, I found myself hitting rock bottom. I was just going through the motions. I didn't like what I was doing with my life and where it was heading. I felt without purpose and meaning. I was looking to escape from my mind and my emotions; I wanted to run away from my life. I found outlets in going out drinking, finding validation in serial dating and getting distracted with work. Those behaviours were my way of self-medicating, and they became increasingly self-destructive. But all they did was deepening my suffering.

I recall asking myself many times, "Is this what life is about? What am I doing here? And more importantly, what am I doing with my life?"

My pain was so strong that I decided to find a way to get out of what I was experiencing. In order to do that, I read and read and watched everything possible to dig myself out. I decided to take ownership of my life, work on myself and look within. With determination, I changed those aspects of me I didn't like. I chose to start living a healthy lifestyle, taking care of my body, my mind, my heart and my soul, aligning all those aspects of me to shed off my limitations and lead a more fulfilling life. I opened the connection with my spiritual path.

Throughout my own journey, I became aware that I was suffering even more than I originally thought. I was so busy going through the motions that I didn’t even realize it was happening. I was identifying myself with the behaviours of society, and my way of living mirrored those behaviours. I was hustling, often distracted, and feeling stressed, worried, and guilty. I was chasing what I was conditioned to believe was success, thinking this would make me happy and fulfilled. I thought it was normal—I saw everyone in the same boat and I didn’t know any other way.

Now that I am on "the other side," I can recognize how all of it was created in my mind. I was living as if on autopilot. I also began to observe that individuals are suffering because they are living so much in their minds without even being aware of it. They are also limiting their potential and negatively affecting their well-being as they continue living from a conditioned perspective. In essence, they are in the box, thinking that this is all there is to life.

During my time in the corporate environment, my views started to change as well. This occurred as I was going through my inner journey. I also began to realize that in this fast-changing business environment, corporations that follow the same old approach will not be able to adapt to a world that seeks meaning and purpose. Their out-dated approaches are limiting our society and impacting our global well-being.

My reflections and transformation inspired me to go back to school and become a Certified Conscious Leadership Coach and the founder of Quantum Thinking. It also inspired me to write my book, Wake Up! How to Get Out of Your Mind, Stop Living on Autopilot and Start Choosing Your Best Life.
